frequently asked questions

At our Jackson, TN location, Cultivate Behavioral Health & Education provides individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental differences. Our ABA services are designed to improve communication skills, social interaction, play development, adaptive daily living skills, and emotional regulation.

Each child receives a personalized treatment plan created and supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Therapy sessions are delivered in our structured clinic environment, where children engage in one-on-one instruction, social learning opportunities, behavior reduction programming, and caregiver coaching. Our goal is to improve functional independence and overall quality of life for children and families throughout the Jackson and West Tennessee community.

At this time, our Jackson, Tennessee clinic primarily provides center-based ABA therapy services. The structured clinic environment allows children to build consistent routines, practice peer interaction, and receive focused one-on-one instruction from a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) under BCBA supervision.

If service needs change over time, our clinical team can discuss available options and coordinate care appropriately.

What sets Cultivate apart in Jackson, TN is our comprehensive and family-centered approach to Applied Behavior Analysis. We create individualized treatment plans that address the full range of skills needed for independence — including communication, social engagement, play development, and adaptive functioning.

Our team focuses on reducing challenging behaviors such as aggression, elopement, self-injury, and prolonged tantrums while simultaneously teaching replacement skills that help children succeed across home, school, and community settings. We emphasize collaboration with caregivers to reduce family stress and create consistency across environments.

By combining structured clinical programming with compassionate care, we help children build meaningful, lasting skills.

ABA therapy sessions at our Jackson clinic are typically provided Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays as needed to ensure consistency and routine development. The total number of hours recommended will depend on your child’s comprehensive assessment and clinical needs.

After completing an evaluation, the BCBA will determine whether focused or comprehensive ABA therapy is appropriate. Consistent scheduling allows children to build momentum, strengthen skill acquisition, and make steady developmental progress.

Our Jackson ABA team is composed of highly trained and credentialed professionals. Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) hold master’s-level degrees in behavior analysis or related fields and are nationally certified through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) complete a 40-hour RBT training course, pass a national competency assessment, and receive ongoing supervision from a BCBA. Behavior Technicians also complete the required 40-hour training and work toward full RBT certification while receiving direct supervision. This structured supervision model ensures high-quality, ethical, and evidence-based ABA therapy services.

Yes. Parent and caregiver training is an essential component of our ABA therapy program in Jackson, TN. We offer both group caregiver training sessions and individualized parent coaching.

Caregiver training focuses on teaching behavior management strategies, reinforcement techniques, communication development strategies, and skill generalization across settings. Our goal is to empower parents with practical tools that reduce stress and promote long-term success at home.

ABA therapy may be appropriate if your child demonstrates behaviors that are significantly more intense or frequent than their peers, such as prolonged tantrums, aggression, self-injurious behaviors, elopement, or difficulty following instructions.

ABA therapy is also beneficial for children who struggle with communication, social skills, play development, and daily living tasks. For example, we teach skills such as requesting items, labeling objects, conversational turn-taking, tolerating losing a game, sitting appropriately in group settings, and engaging in pretend or collaborative play.

If you have concerns about your child’s development, speaking with your pediatrician or requesting an ABA evaluation can help determine whether services are appropriate.

A typical ABA therapy session at our Jackson clinic includes a combination of structured instruction and natural environment teaching. Children rotate through different learning environments within the clinic, including direct teaching spaces, gross motor areas, group instruction settings, sensory spaces, and social interaction areas.

Sessions target communication development, social skills, adaptive living skills, and behavior reduction goals. Positive reinforcement strategies are used to increase motivation and engagement. Every activity is aligned with the child’s individualized treatment plan and adjusted based on ongoing data collection.

We use a secure data collection system, Ensora, to track progress on every goal and target addressed during therapy sessions. Data is collected daily and reviewed regularly by the supervising BCBA to ensure programming remains effective.

Parents are provided with login access so they can view their child’s progress and monitor skill development. This transparency allows families to stay informed and actively involved in treatment decisions.

Although we do not provide formal autism diagnostic evaluations at Cultivate, we do, however, offer free developmental screening tools such as the M-CHAT and CAST to help families determine whether a full evaluation may be beneficial.

If a formal diagnosis is needed, our team is able to connect you with trusted diagnostician partners who provide convenient virtual autism evaluations to reduce wait times.
