Do You Suspect Your Child Might Have Autism?
We're Here to Help.

If you’ve noticed differences in how your child communicates, interacts, or plays, getting clarity early can make all the difference. At Cultivate, we help families take those first important steps by offering trusted autism screenings, such as the M-CHAT-R (for toddlers) and the CAST (for older children).

These screenings can provide valuable insight and help determine whether pursuing a formal diagnostic evaluation is the next step. Our team can help directly connect you to our diagnostic partners to ensure families have clear pathways to the support they need.

frequently asked questions

Families searching for ABA therapy in Louisville, KY can find comprehensive, individualized services at Cultivate Behavioral Health & Education. We provide evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy designed to help children strengthen communication, social skills, emotional regulation, daily living abilities, and independence.

Each child receives a personalized treatment plan created by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) based on their unique strengths and developmental goals. Depending on clinical recommendations, services may be provided in our Louisville clinic, at home, within schools or daycares, or in community settings where children naturally learn and interact. Our goal is to help children build meaningful skills that carry over into everyday life.

Families throughout Louisville and surrounding Jefferson County communities choose Cultivate because we focus on quality, collaboration, and individualized care—not one-size-fits-all treatment.

Every child receives ongoing oversight from a BCBA who regularly reviews progress data and adjusts programming as new skills develop. We are also accredited by the Behavioral Health Center of Excellence (BHCOE) and are proud members of the Council of Autism Service Providers (CASP), reflecting our commitment to high clinical standards and ethical, evidence-based ABA therapy.

Beyond therapy sessions, we work closely with parents, physicians, educators, speech-language pathologists, and occupational therapists whenever appropriate to help create consistency across every environment where a child learns and grows.

There isn’t a standard number of ABA therapy hours that works for every child. After completing a comprehensive assessment, your child’s BCBA will recommend a treatment schedule based on their developmental needs, strengths, and long-term goals.

Some children in Louisville, KY may benefit from a few sessions each week, while others participate in more comprehensive therapy programs. Recommendations are designed to provide enough consistency for meaningful progress while also considering your family’s schedule, school routine, and other therapies your child may receive.

Yes. Parent participation is an important part of successful ABA therapy, which is why caregiver training is built into every child’s treatment program.

During these sessions, families learn practical strategies they can use during everyday routines such as mealtime, bedtime, community outings, and play. Your BCBA will demonstrate techniques, answer questions, review progress, and help you feel confident supporting your child’s growth outside of therapy sessions.

When therapy strategies are used consistently across home, school, and the community, children often have more opportunities to practice and maintain new skills.

Many families begin researching ABA therapy after their child receives an autism diagnosis, but others simply notice developmental differences and want to better understand their options.

If your child is having difficulty communicating, interacting with others, adapting to changes in routine, learning everyday skills, or displaying behaviors that interfere with learning, an ABA assessment may be beneficial.

Our Louisville team can guide you through the evaluation process, answer questions about ABA therapy, and help determine whether services are appropriate for your child’s individual needs.

Absolutely!! Parents and caregivers are valuable members of every child’s treatment team.

While your child’s direct therapy sessions are led by trained clinicians, you’ll regularly meet with your BCBA to review progress, discuss goals, and learn strategies you can use at home. Depending on your child’s treatment plan, you may also participate in portions of therapy sessions to practice new techniques alongside your child’s therapist.

Our goal is to empower families with the knowledge and tools needed to continue supporting progress long after each therapy session ends.

No two ABA sessions look exactly alike because every child’s program is individualized.

A typical session at our Louisville ABA therapy center may include play-based learning, structured teaching, movement activities, social interaction, communication practice, and opportunities to develop self-help skills throughout the day. Therapists naturally incorporate learning into activities children enjoy, making sessions engaging while still targeting meaningful developmental goals.

As children gain new skills, therapy activities become increasingly challenging to encourage independence and confidence across different environments.

Progress is measured through continuous data collection rather than observation alone.

During every ABA therapy session, therapists collect detailed information about the skills your child is learning and the goals they’re working toward. Your BCBA reviews this data on an ongoing basis to evaluate improvement, identify trends, and determine whether teaching strategies should be adjusted.

This objective, data-driven approach allows us to celebrate milestones, quickly address challenges, and ensure therapy continues moving your child toward meaningful outcomes.

Yes, when clinically appropriate and with approval from the educational setting, ABA therapy may be provided within a daycare, preschool, or other educational environment.

Receiving therapy in these settings allows children to practice communication, social interaction, following classroom routines, and peer engagement where those skills naturally occur. Our team works collaboratively with teachers and caregivers to help create consistency between school, home, and therapy whenever possible.

Recommendations for school-based services are made by your child’s BCBA after considering your child’s treatment goals and learning needs.

While Cultivate Behavioral Health & Education does not perform formal autism evaluations, we help families in Louisville, KY navigate the diagnostic process from start to finish.

We offer free developmental screening tools, including the M-CHAT-R for toddlers and the CAST for older children, to help identify potential signs of autism. If additional evaluation is recommended, we can connect families with trusted diagnostic partners—including virtual autism evaluation providers—to help make the process more convenient and accessible.

Once a diagnosis has been completed, our Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) develop an individualized ABA treatment plan focused on helping your child build communication, social, adaptive, and daily living skills that support lifelong success.
