Meet Our Clinic Manager
Kelly Wise, MS, BCBA, LBA
Kelly has been a BCBA for several years and currently manages our Louisville clinic. She began her career in ABA as a behavior technician and quickly found her passion for helping children with autism. Kelly completed her fieldwork through Cultivate’s apprenticeship program and now leads our Louisville team with a focus on providing compassionate, personalized care to every child who comes through our doors. Her dedication to working closely with families means that each and every child receives the support they need.

Children grow more independent in a safe, caring, and comfortable environment by playing with peers, practicing and learning social skills, communication, daily living skills, and school-readiness.
At Cultivate, we know that lasting and meaningful change comes when we engage the entire family. All families receiving clinic, home, or community based ABA services also receive caregiver training sessions as part of the treatment plan. These trainings allow us to equip you with the tools to support your child and provide your child with consistency throughout their entire day, not just when they are in therapy!
At times, skills need to be targeted with peers rather than just with a BT. Social groups provide the opportunity to work on developing social interactions with multiple peers, including those that are typically developing.
For timely support, Cultivate offers telehealth services through platforms such as video calls, phone consultations, messaging apps, and more. These services offer convenient access to advice and support, reducing the need for an in-person visit.

What Parents are saying
What is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a comprehensive and evidence-based treatment method for children with autism (ASD) and developmental challenges. At our Louisville clinic, ABA therapy is focused on creating an environment that promotes positive behavioral changes, while addressing the underlying causes of the behaviors.
Our therapists create safe, nurturing settings where children feel both comfortable and supported. This positive environment helps them to overcome obstacles in learning, communication, and social interaction.
ABA has been consistently validated as one of the most effective treatments for managing the challenges associated with autism, and has contributed to helping children gain new skills and improve their daily lives.
How ABA Therapy Helps Kids and Teens with ASD
ABA therapy at our Louisville center focuses on helping children with autism improve their essential life skills like social interaction, communication, emotional regulation, and self-control. These skills are important for everyday life, and can lead to reduced negative behaviors over time.
Positive Reinforcement
We use positive reinforcement techniques to reward good behavior. This method has been proven to be effective over decades of research. Unlike punishment – which can worsen symptoms – positive reinforcement encourages lasting positive behaviors.
- Social Reinforcers: Simple gestures like a smile or verbal praise show children that their efforts are noticed and appreciated.
- Tangible Reinforcers: Physical rewards, such as toys or books, provide a clear incentive for goal achievement.
- Token Reinforcers: Tokens earned for good behavior can be exchanged for larger rewards, teaching kids the value of working toward a goal.
- Edible Reinforcers: Small treats like fruit or crackers help motivate children to complete tasks while making learning enjoyable.
- Activity Reinforcers: Fun activities, such as games or puzzles, serve as rewards for completing difficult tasks, reinforcing positive behavior in a playful way.
What Happens During an ABA Therapy Session?
At our Louisville center, ABA therapy sessions begin with a personalized treatment plan that is developed around each child’s needs and goals. Family involvement is a very important part of this process, and it helps to provide consistency between therapy and home.
Some key areas we focus on include:
- Social skills
- Academic performance
- Communication abilities
- Self-care practices
- Motor skills
- Leisure and play
Â
Therapy Sessions are divided into two categories:
- Task-Oriented Training: This more structured approach focuses on specific skill-building tasks, and includes one-on-one support from the therapist. Positive reinforcement is provided as children complete tasks, keeping them motivated and engaged.
- Natural Environment Training: In a more relaxed and play-like setting, children can practice applying their new skills in everyday life situations. These sessions help them apply the behaviors they learn in therapy to real-world situations.
Goals are broken down into small and achievable steps, and progress is monitored and adjusted frequently. This comprehensive approach helps children build to confidence as they develop new skills.
Understanding the A-B-Cs of ABA:
Antecedents, Behaviors, and Consequences
At the core of ABA therapy are the “A-B-Cs” – antecedents, behaviors, and consequences. This framework helps children understand how their environment influences their actions. This, in turn, helps to shape the outcomes and results of those actions.
- Antecedents are the events or triggers that happen right before a behavior, like a loud noise, or a specific request. Identifying these triggers helps therapists work with children to manage their reactions, and begin to reduce negative behaviors.
- Behaviors are the actions the child takes in response to the antecedent. These can be positive or negative, and are what we aim to modify in ABA therapy.
- Consequences are the outcomes that follow the behavior. Positive behaviors naturally result in positive consequences, and this reinforces good habits and encourages growth.
Â
By focusing on this structure, ABA therapy can help children replace negative behaviors with positive ones. This leads to more adaptable and successful interactions with their environment.

At Cultivate, family involvement is key to a child’s success in our program. We work alongside families to give you tools and guidance that will continue to help your child’s development at home.
