Cultivate provides quality ABA therapy by Board Certified Behavior Analysts for children in Miami and the surrounding areas. We make sure our services are convenient and flexible for families. Research has found that therapy across various settings helps our clients learn and apply their skills in the times and places that matter the most.
Every different setting means new challenges and opportunities to motivate children to learn and grow. Changing their environments is an effective technique for skills and for reinforcing lessons that were first introduced in a different setting.
Plus, as children learn and grow, their needs change over time. Because of these changes treatment plans need to be fluid. The clinicians at Cultivate are experienced in the different types of ABA interventions so that they can continue to support clients through every stage of their learning.
Cultivate is here to support your child with ABA therapy solutions and strategies that work!
I am absolutely thrilled with Cultivate. Often times with special needs kids you have to make tough decisions and find the right fit for therapy. Choosing Cultivate was a huge win for us. The owners are amazing and educated and very involved in their company. They have a direct hand in what the therapists are implementing at home and in their centers. They have responded quickly and incredibly profession- ally to all our needs and requests. Our therapists are wonderful, and our boys love them. A lot of things in my life are stressful regarding my kid’s needs but this is definitely not one of them.
Nothing less than amazing. In almost 4 months, they’ve helped my son talk to us. He will hug me now. He sleeps in his own bed now. Uses words to communicate SO MUCH MORE
Cultivate has been a game changer for our little family. My child has grown SO much, cultivated so many relationships outside of our family, and all around has just gained so much confidence and maturity.
Receiving therapy at one of our welcoming Cultivate centers gives children an opportunity to play and interact with their peers in a positive and safe environment. They can grow and find their independence by practicing social skills, communication, daily living, and school-readiness that they learn through ABA therapy with other children.
Children spend most of their time at home, where they learn important life skills and play with siblings and parents. Home is a perfect environment to help children practice daily tasks like potty training, household chores, and hygiene skills. Cultivate’s home-based services are based on the same compassionate professionalism and concepts as our center-based therapies.
Recognizing the extremely important role of family in therapy, we offer comprehensive caregiver training sessions. These equip parents and guardians with effective tools and strategies to reinforce their child’s skills at home. Our collaborative approach means together we can achieve continuity of care and create lasting change that extends beyond clinic walls and into daily family life.
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy for kids is an evidence-based approach that is designed to encourage communication and language skills. It is the most widely accepted behavioral intervention for helping people diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders like ASD.
ABA therapy is supported by hundreds of peer-reviewed studies, and it is considered to be one of the highest standards of care for early autism treatment.
ABA is an individualized therapy that aims to reduce maladaptive behaviors like self-injury and aggression, while at the same time improving upon adaptive behaviors like self-help and language skills.
ABA uses a critical component in behavioral therapy known as antecedent, behavior, and consequence – referred to as “ABC.” The antecedent is what occurs immediately before the behavior. For example, a child is playing with a toy while their parent is talking on the phone. Then, the child walks over and tugs on their parent’s shirt – that’s the behavior. As a consequence, the parent turns around and asks the child, “What do you need?”
By analyzing behavior through the lens of the ABC approach, we can analyze the “why” of a particular behavior.
Another main principle of ABA therapy is known as a behavior chain. Sometimes called “chaining” this method of teaching is used to develop multi-step sequences that work to build skills within a specific set of behaviors or tasks. In short, connecting individual behaviors to form more complex responses.
Positive reinforcement is another commonly-used concept in ABA therapy. This approach rewards a desired behavior to increase the likelihood that it will be repeated. By providing a child with something motivating or desirable, such as praise or a token, after the behavior occurs, an individual is more encouraged to engage in that behavior more frequently.
In many of these ways, the foundations of ABA therapy for children follows the same basic learning principles and systems that most families are already practicing.
Autism therapy services are not a one-size-fits-all experience. Every child and their family has a different set of needs, and our team creates personal treatment plans to meet those needs.
Your child’s customized program may include some or all the strategies described below, as well as other evidence-based approaches.
There is no cure for autism, however research shows that early interventions such as ABA therapy can greatly reduce symptoms and improve skills.
According to a study in the American Family Physician, ABA therapy services are especially effective for younger children. If you believe ABA autism services can improve your child’s life, let’s connect! Our helpful and experienced team members will be happy to answer your questions and explain our ABA services in depth.
Here at Cultivate, we understand that hearing your child has been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can feel overwhelming. It is natural for parents to worry about their child’s future and ability to function independently as they grow into adulthood.
