Sensory-Friendly Valentine’s Event Brings Inclusive Haircuts and Community Celebration to Austin Families

January 29, 2026 — This Valentine’s Day, Cultivate Behavioral Health & Education is bringing families together for a meaningful community celebration designed with inclusion, comfort, and connection in mind. The organization will host Heartfelt Haircuts, a free, sensory-friendly Valentine’s Day celebration that offers activities, resources, and a unique haircut experience tailored specifically for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other sensory sensitivities. The event will take place on Saturday, February 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Cultivate’s Austin (Four Points) clinic, located at 6611 River Place Blvd., Suite 105, Austin, TX. Families from across the Austin area are invited to attend and celebrate Valentine’s Day in a welcoming, low-pressure environment created with neurodivergent children and their families in mind. A highlight of the event is Cultivate’s partnership with social media influencer, educator, and sensory-safe barber Henry Amoloja, widely known as Henry “Tribes” Amoloja. Henry specializes in providing sensory-friendly haircuts for neurodivergent children and is the inventor of The Weighted Cape, an innovative tool designed to help reduce anxiety and sensory overload during haircuts. For many families of children with autism, getting a haircut can be an overwhelming experience. Loud sounds, unfamiliar environments, physical touch, and changes in routine can lead to distress, anxiety, or avoidance. As a result, families often delay haircuts or struggle to find providers who understand their child’s needs. During the Heartfelt Haircuts event, Henry will provide haircut appointments in a calm, supportive environment, using sensory-informed strategies to help children feel safe and comfortable. Families interested in a haircut can sign up in advance through an intake form; however, a haircut sign-up is not required to attend the event. In addition to haircut appointments, the Valentine’s celebration will include: Valentine’s Day themed activities Raffle prizes Opportunities to connect with community partners Family-friendly experiences designed to minimize sensory overwhelm “The goal of this event is accessibility and connection,” said Lydia Irvin, PhD, BCBA-D, LBA, Clinical Manager of Cultivate Behavioral Health & Education. “We want families to feel seen, supported, and have access to resources catered to their child’s needs, not just in therapy settings, but in community spaces as well. This Heartfelt Haircuts event is about creating a day where children can simply be themselves and families can enjoy the moment together.” The event is supported by several local community partners who share Cultivate’s commitment to inclusion and family support, including The Autism Society of Texas, Wilco Nannies, Lakeshore, NATX Neurodiversity, Round Rock Developmental Pediatrics, and Aspire Vision Training Center. These organizations will be present to share resources, engage with families, and help create a festive, supportive atmosphere throughout the day. Cultivate Behavioral Health & Education provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy and related services to children and families, with a strong focus on early intervention, individualized care, and family collaboration. The organization believes that meaningful progress happens not only in clinical settings, but also through community engagement and inclusive experiences that promote acceptance and belonging. “Events like this align directly with our mission,” said Veronica Umaña, Cultivate’s Director of Marketing & Communications. “We are committed to helping children reach their fullest potential while also supporting families beyond the therapy room. Creating sensory-friendly experiences in the community is one way we can reduce barriers and increase access to joyful, everyday moments.” The Heartfelt Haircuts event is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to RSVP in advance. Those interested in a sensory-friendly haircut experience with Henry “Tribes” Amoloja are encouraged to complete the intake form ahead of time, as haircut availability is limited.
