Do You Suspect Your Child Might Have Autism?
We're Here to Help.

If you’ve noticed differences in how your child communicates, interacts, or plays, getting clarity early can make all the difference. At Cultivate, we help families take those first important steps by offering trusted autism screenings, such as the M-CHAT-R (for toddlers) and the CAST (for older children).

These screenings can provide valuable insight and help determine whether pursuing a formal diagnostic evaluation is the next step. Our team can help directly connect you to our diagnostic partners to ensure families have clear pathways to the support they need.

frequently asked questions

At our Kansas City, Missouri location, Cultivate Behavioral Health & Education provides individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental delays. Our Kansas City ABA clinic offers clinic-based therapy designed to help children strengthen communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, daily living skills, and school readiness.

Each child receives a personalized treatment plan developed and supervised by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Therapy is delivered one-on-one by trained Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) in a structured, supportive environment. Our goal is to provide families throughout Kansas City and surrounding communities with compassionate, evidence-based ABA therapy that promotes long-term independence and meaningful progress.

What sets Cultivate apart in Kansas City is our commitment to individualized, family-centered ABA therapy grounded in clinical excellence. We do not use one-size-fits-all programming. Instead, our BCBAs create customized treatment plans based on thorough assessments, parent input, and measurable goals.

Our clinical leaders maintain active involvement in supervision and data review, ensuring treatment plans remain dynamic and responsive. We prioritize collaboration with families, ethical practice, and socially significant outcomes — meaning we focus on skills that truly improve everyday life. Our culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and compassion helps children build skills that extend beyond the therapy setting.

The frequency of ABA therapy in Kansas City depends on your child’s individualized assessment and medical necessity. After completing a comprehensive evaluation, your BCBA will recommend either focused ABA therapy (typically 10–25 hours per week) or comprehensive ABA therapy (up to 30–40 hours per week).

Therapy is generally scheduled Monday through Friday to ensure consistency and skill retention. Consistent attendance helps children build momentum, generalize new skills, and make steady developmental gains.

Yes. Caregiver collaboration is a core component of our Kansas City ABA program. Parent training sessions are designed to help families understand behavioral strategies, reinforcement systems, and communication techniques used during therapy.

These structured meetings allow caregivers to ask questions, review progress data, and learn how to apply ABA principles at home and in the community. When families are actively involved, children often experience stronger generalization and long-term success.

ABA therapy may be appropriate if your child experiences challenges with communication, social skills, emotional regulation, adaptive behaviors, or behaviors that interfere with daily functioning. Many families seek ABA services following an autism diagnosis, but therapy can also support children with developmental delays or behavioral concerns.

If you notice delays in speech, limited peer interaction, frequent meltdowns, difficulty following directions, or safety concerns, speaking with your pediatrician about an evaluation may be helpful. Our Kansas City team can guide you through the assessment process to determine whether ABA therapy is recommended.

While daily clinic sessions are conducted one-on-one between your child and their RBT, parents remain actively involved through caregiver training sessions, scheduled observations, and ongoing communication with the supervising BCBA.

Our goal is to maintain open collaboration so you feel informed and supported throughout the therapy process. Family involvement plays a key role in maintaining progress across home and community settings.

A typical ABA session in our Kansas City clinic combines structured instruction with natural learning opportunities. Sessions are individualized and may include discrete trial teaching, natural environment teaching, social skill practice, communication training, and behavior intervention strategies.

Children work on goals such as requesting, labeling, conversation skills, emotional flexibility, play skills, daily living tasks, and peer interaction. Positive reinforcement is used consistently to encourage motivation and engagement, while real-time data collection ensures measurable progress.

ABA therapy is highly data-driven. During each session, RBTs collect objective data on targeted skills and behaviors using secure digital data collection software. The supervising BCBA reviews this data regularly to assess trends, determine mastery, and adjust programming as needed.

Families receive progress updates during caregiver meetings, and treatment plans are formally reviewed at regular intervals to ensure therapy remains effective and aligned with developmental goals.

Yes. Our Kansas City ABA clinic serves children across all communication levels, including nonverbal and minimally verbal learners. We incorporate alternative communication systems such as sign language, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices when appropriate.

Our goal is to help every child develop functional communication skills that allow them to express needs, build relationships, and increase independence.

Cultivate Behavioral Health & Education in Kansas City does not provide formal autism diagnostic evaluations. However, we offer free developmental screening tools such as the M-CHAT (for toddlers) and the CAST (for older children) to help families determine whether a comprehensive evaluation may be beneficial.

If a formal autism diagnosis is needed, we can connect families with trusted diagnostician partners who provide virtual evaluations, helping reduce wait times and increase access to care in the Kansas City area.
