The Role of ABA Therapy in Addressing Challenging Behaviors in Public Spaces
Public spaces such as grocery stores, parks, schools, and restaurants can be overwhelming for individuals

Our dedicated team of behavior therapists focuses on developing essential skills, including communication, social interactions, behavior management, and daily living activities, in a supportive and structured environment. Families searching for autism therapy in South Louisville can trust our experienced professionals to provide personalized, high-quality ABA therapy tailored to their child’s unique needs.
Jeff joined Cultivate in early 2025. A BCBA since 2015, and an autistic adult himself, he has extensive experience serving diverse populations across various settings (clinic, home, community, in-patient). He specializes in providing Early Intensive Behavioral Interventions (EIBI) to young autistic learners. He uses this experience to mentor his team and ensure high-quality client services.
Our ABA clinic provides a structured and nurturing environment for children to develop essential developmental and age-appropriate skills. Through a combination of play–based and adult–directed activities, children learn communication, daily living, pre-academic, and social readiness. Our experienced team facilitates these sessions, helping your child build independence and confidence in a setting that mirrors real-world scenarios. Clinic–based service models include regular parent and caregiver training to maximize learning opportunities outside of structured ABA Therapy sessions.
If you’ve noticed differences in how your child communicates, interacts, or plays, getting clarity early can make all the difference. At Cultivate, we help families take those first important steps by offering trusted autism screenings, such as the M-CHAT-R (for toddlers) and the CAST (for older children).
These screenings can provide valuable insight and help determine whether pursuing a formal diagnostic evaluation is the next step. Our team can help directly connect you to our diagnostic partners to ensure families have clear pathways to the support they need.
Getting an autism diagnosis for your child is so hard and they help you through things. There is always a teacher, caseworker or even a parent of another student to turn to when you need to talk.
From the moment that we met our team and they were playing with our son, it felt very personalized. They were very engaged with him, and that is when we were starting to understand that he would have these different goals that he would try to achieve.
We love it here. My kiddo adores all the staff and is learning so much. Thank you to everyone involved for making it happen to where we no longer have communication barriers for our little man.

At our South Louisville location, Cultivate Behavioral Health & Education specializes in early intervention Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children ages 2–6 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Early intervention ABA therapy focuses on building foundational skills during the most critical developmental years. Our programs target communication, social interaction, play skills, daily living skills, emotional regulation, and school readiness. Each child receives a fully individualized treatment plan designed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and delivered through one-on-one therapy in our center.
Families in South Louisville choose our early intervention ABA services because we focus on preparing young children for long-term independence and success in preschool and kindergarten environments.
What sets our South Louisville ABA therapy center apart is the level of clinical oversight and individualized care each child receives. Our clinic is led by experienced Clinical Managers who are Board Certified Behavior Analysts, ensuring strong supervision and support for every case. Our BCBAs maintain smaller caseloads, which allows them to provide more direct involvement, more frequent program updates, and higher-quality coaching for Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). This structure allows us to closely monitor progress and adjust programming quickly when needed. We are committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based ABA therapy in South Louisville while maintaining a warm, family-focused approach that prioritizes meaningful, socially significant goals.
The number of ABA therapy hours your child receives is determined after a comprehensive assessment conducted by one of our BCBAs. At our South Louisville early intervention center, children typically receive between 12 and 40 hours per week, depending on their skill level, areas of developmental need, medical necessity, and family goals. Because we serve children ages 2–6, many benefit from consistent weekly schedules that allow for intensive learning and skill-building during these early developmental years. Recommendations are always individualized to ensure each child receives the right level of support.
Yes, caregiver involvement is an essential component of our early intervention ABA therapy program in South Louisville. We require families to participate in caregiver guidance sessions because research consistently shows that children make stronger progress when strategies are reinforced outside of therapy. During these sessions, our BCBAs provide individualized coaching to help parents support communication development, manage challenging behaviors, strengthen daily routines, and promote skill generalization at home and in the community. Our goal is to empower families with practical tools and confidence so progress continues beyond the clinic setting.
Children who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder are often recommended for ABA therapy by their pediatrician or diagnosing professional. Early intervention ABA therapy may be appropriate if your child demonstrates delays in communication, struggles with social engagement or play skills, has difficulty following directions, or exhibits frequent tantrums, aggression, or unsafe behaviors. At our South Louisville clinic, we conduct a comprehensive assessment to determine whether ABA therapy is clinically appropriate and how many hours are medically necessary. This evaluation helps ensure that services are tailored to your child’s individual developmental needs.
Each ABA therapy session at our South Louisville early intervention center is individualized to the child’s goals and developmental level. Children work one-on-one with a Registered Behavior Technician while targeting skills identified by their BCBA. Sessions may include structured teaching methods such as Discrete Trial Training as well as play-based learning through Natural Environment Teaching. Because we specialize in serving children ages 2–6, therapy emphasizes engagement, play, and social interaction while systematically building communication, adaptive skills, and early academic readiness. Small group opportunities are incorporated when appropriate to support peer interaction and social development.
ABA therapy is highly data-driven, and progress is carefully monitored during every session. Our Registered Behavior Technicians collect real-time data on skill acquisition and behavior reduction goals using a secure electronic data collection system. Supervising BCBAs review this data regularly, often multiple times per week, to evaluate trends and make adjustments to programming as needed. This ongoing analysis ensures that interventions remain effective and responsive to your child’s progress. Families are updated regularly so they can see measurable growth over time.
Absolutely. Many of the children we serve at our South Louisville ABA clinic are minimally verbal or nonverbal. We support a variety of communication methods, including vocal speech, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS), sign language, and gestures. Our goal is to help each child develop functional communication skills using the method that works best for them.
Providing ABA therapy in a daycare or preschool setting depends on several factors, including the facility’s policies, insurance coverage, and staff availability. If these requirements are met and the setting is clinically appropriate, we will collaborate with the school or daycare to determine whether services can be provided in that environment. Our goal is always to support skill generalization across settings whenever possible.
Cultivate Behavioral Health & Education does not provide formal autism diagnostic evaluations. However, we offer free developmental screening tools such as the M-CHAT and CAST to help families determine whether a comprehensive evaluation may be beneficial. If a formal diagnosis is needed, we can connect families with trusted diagnostician partners who offer convenient virtual autism evaluations to help reduce wait times and improve access to care.
