Cultivate Behavioral Health & Education Celebrates Autism Acceptance Month with National Walk/Run and Food Drive Efforts

(April 29, 2021) – In honor of Autism Acceptance Month, Cultivate Behavioral Health & Education (Cultivate BHE) hosted its inaugural Autism Awareness and Acceptance Walk on April 3, 2021. This nationwide event brought together more than 150 participants from across the country to run, walk, or hike proudly wearing blue to spark meaningful conversations and shine a light on autism acceptance.

Through this collective show of support, Cultivate’s event also raised donations for the Autism Society of America, a national nonprofit network that supports more than 600,000 individuals and families each year through education, advocacy, and community building. The success of the walk highlights the power of awareness and community engagement in promoting inclusion and support for neurodivergent individuals.

In addition to the walk, Cultivate BHE expanded its impact through a coordinated Autism Acceptance Month Food Drive, donating over 500 pounds of canned goods, non-perishable food items, and diapers to food pantries across the country. Beneficiaries included the San Antonio Food Bank, Tinley Park Food Pantry, and Mid-South Food Bank, among others. These efforts underscore Cultivate’s commitment to serving not only neurodivergent children and families but also the greater community, making a difference wherever possible.

“At Cultivate, we celebrate autism by embracing the strengths and diversity it brings to our world,” said Sharon Beak, Outreach Manager. “Our walk and food drive were just two of many ways we show our support, and we’re incredibly grateful to every participant and donor who joined us in making this month so impactful.”
