Cultivate @ SXSW Edu 2019: Using Improv To Help Students Learn
As a rapidly growing business in the field of behavioral health, we at Cultivate are constantly seeking opportunities to showcase our commitment to innovate in the field of Education and Applied Behavior Analysis. Last week, we got to do EXACTLY that, by presenting at this year’s SXSW EDU. With that in mind, Rob, our Chief Operations Manager, and Omar, one of our Operations Manager, got together and came up with “Improv-Ed,” an informal strategy for applying improvisation through interactive games and exercises to help students with autism learn and grow. Through this approach, both Omar and Rob focus on utilizing reinforcement in combination with some qualities from improvisation, such as collaboration, spontaneity, playfulness, and decisiveness, to enhance the learning experience of others.
